Norwich City’s club captain Russell Martin has joined Rangers on loan until the end of the season.

Defender Martin, 32, said he was keen to get back to playing regular football as he tries to earn a recall to the Scotland squad.

Martin is 22nd on Norwich’s all-time appearances list, which includes 125 appearances in the Premier League – a club record.

He has been involved in three promotions with City and has 308 appearances for the Canaries, scoring 17 goals.

He has an unbelievable working attitude and he has been brilliant for the lads.

There have been some tough times for him when he hasn’t been in the team but he was still there with a lot of support and help.

I’m happy for him that he now has this honour to get this loan move to a big club, and in the summer he will return to Norwich.

– Daniel Farke, Norwich City Manager
