A familiar face is making a Roots Hall return.
Southend have appointed former Shrimpers defender Chris Powell.
The 48-year-old made 290 appearances for the Essex side and also played for Derby County, West Ham and Watford.
He's an experienced manager who had spells in the hot seat at Charlton, where he was named LMA League One Manager of the year, and then at Huddersfield.
He'll be unveiled as the man to replace Phil Brown at a press conference later this afternoon. He's signed a 2-and-a-half-year deal at the Essex club.
