Disruption is expected for commuters this morning (Monday 12 February). Trains are suspended between Ely and Kings Lynn and on the line between Norwich and Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft.
All lines between Ely and Kings Lynn will be closed until midnight Friday February 16. This is to allow Network Rail engineers to carry out a £1 million programme of improvements to strengthen the railway bridge.
24 steel plates will strengthen the bridge and a thorough coat of pain that will prevent corrosion will be applied, so trains will not have to run at a reduced speed over the bridge.
Major signal remodeling is behind the closure of lines between Norwich and Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft. Services will return to normal on Monday February 19.
Rail replacement services are in place on both lines.
