Eight-mile tailbacks after crash on M11 in Essex

Motorists are facing severe delays on the M11 in Essex this morning.

One lane is closed after a crash on the southbound carriageway between J9 (Saffron Walden) and J8 (Bishop Stortford / Stansted Airport).

It's taking more than an hour to travel through and congestion is back to J10 A505 (Duxford). It's taking almost 2 hours to travel through.

Passengers who are planning to catch flights from Stansted are being advised to find alternative routes to the airport.

There are reports some drivers are using the hard shoulder to get through, blocking emergency vehicles.

And further along the road things are also slow after a separate car fire at junction 8.
