Brightlingsea Lido: Heatwave's been 'magic' for business

An Essex Lido has told ITV News Anglia that it 'couldn't have hoped for a better start to its project.

Brightlingsea Lido has just started its first season running as a charitable trust.

It's being run by mainly volunteers, it's experiencing huge demand with queues forming most days to get inside.

“It’s been magic. I mean we couldn’t have hoped for a better start to our project here. We’ve had hundreds of people in every day. We’ve gone over a thousand swimmers a day on several occasions. Already this year we’ve done twice the amount, number of swimmers than they had for the entire season last year.”

The lido was facing closure, but has been saved by the charitable trust.

Thanks to the heatwave, tickets have been selling out fast each day and they are easily filling their 400 capacity.
