Thousands of locals have lined the streets as Hawick stages its own Olympic torch procession. The town was one of the few major Borders locations not to be included in the official torch relay.
Thousands of people watched as a homemade replica of the Olympic Torch was paraded through the streets. The town decided to hold its own celebrations when it was missed off the list of locations the real torch will visit when it reaches the Borders on Thursday. Hundreds of children from local schools took part.
Alan Williamson is the rector at Hawick high school, he explained to ITV Border's reporter Kathryn Samson who was involved in the parade and how the celebrations unfolded:
