Despite recorded crimes in Dumfries and Galloway falling for the 7th year running, sexual offences there have increased by more than 50%
The number of recorded offences was 52% higher in 2011-2012 compared to 2010-2011.
However the number of sexual offences that were solved, the so called clear up rate, was 85%, the highest rate across all forces.
Official figures show the largest decrease was for crimes of dishonesty and vandalism.
Dumfries and Galloway police have pointed out that it is the smallest police force in Scotland and the actual number of recorded crimes is low.
