Carlisle celebrates the Olympics at Bitts Park

Crowds in Carlisle entered into the Olympic spirit today with a special event in Bitts park.

Live action from London’s stadiums and cartoons with a sporting theme were shown on a huge screen.

People were encouraged to bring along a picnic and there was a chance for young people to try out new sports and activities.

Luke Leathers from Carlisle City council helped organise the event.

The olympic themed event is the highlight of Carlisle's Love Parks week.

“This year’s programme of Carlisle events is even better than last year’s.

“It provides even more reasons to sample and enjoy our parks.”
