Robbers jailed for six years
Two men who carried out an armed robbery at a post office near Carlisle have each been sentenced to six years in prison. The robbery happened at Wetheral post office in June.A woman shop keeper, working behind the counter, was threatened at knife point and between £700 and £800 stolen from the till.
Matthew Scott, 25, of Ellesmere Way, Carlisle, and Kye Halliburton, 21, of Harker Park Road, Carlisle, were caught on CCTV and admitted the offences at an earlier hearing.
The judge, Paul Batty QC said,
The shop assistant was praised for her bravery and will be awarded £250 out of public funds.
Cumbria police say the sentence sends out a clear message to criminals.
