Carers urged to come forward and claim the support available to them

When Nicola Kerr was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis eighteen months ago her son Liam stepped in to share with the care of his baby sister. He helps with housework, cooking meals and all the jobs Nicola struggles with when her condition is at it's worst.

The Kerrs say Eden Carers, a charity celebrating it's tenth anniversary this week, has helped them enormously. Liam has been put in touch with other young carers and attends regular activity days to give him respite, he's also been taught new skills to help him look after his mum and sister.

The organisation estimate there are more than four and a half thousand carers in the Eden Valley alone who aren't getting the support they need and are entitled to. They are urging them to come forward to they can help. See the full report below.
