The search for a missing fisherman in Carlisle will continue into a fourth day.

Father-of-two Robert Heaton, 41, was last seen on Friday leaving home with his fishing gear. He was reported missing on Saturday morning when he failed to return home.

Over the weekend a major search and rescue operation was launched and on Monday, November 19, police divers from Cheshire joined the search.

His fishing rod and baseball hat were found by a fellow angler on Saturday.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

"Mr Heaton is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall of stocky build. He was last seen in the area of Belah in carlisle but he does frequent the city centre.

"He was wearing a grey hoodie, either black or navy blue tracksuit bottoms and brown work boots."
