Tattoo artists scoop £2.4m Lotto win

A group of friends from Whitehaven are celebrating after scooping £2.4 million on The National Lottery, just months after they started to play.

Staff members from Jink Tattoo Studio in Whitehaven, and their martial arts instructor friend, will receive just over £610,000 each.

Their winning numbers came up on Wednesday night and the group realised they had won the next morning.

The group are piercer Lea Somerfield, aged 43, tattoo artists Jason Ball, aged 42, and Alex McDonald, aged 24, and martial arts instructor Nigel Fouracre aged 37.

“We started playing together about five months ago. Until now, we’ve had a handful of small wins, about £2 or so, but nothing of this scale.

None of us could quite believe it, it was incredible. It couldn’t have happened at a better time with Christmas just days away.

“We haven’t really planned how we’re going to spend our winnings yet, it’s only just about sunk in that we’ve won. I would like to put some of the money towards a new house, and I have my eye on a new Range Rover Sport, though we’re all just planning on enjoying winning for the moment.”

Lea said that the foursome will continue to play as a syndicate and buy their ticket from the Moresby Park Post Office in Whitehaven.
