In their first game as champions Queen of the South faced the same Brechin City side they had humilated 6-0 last week. This was a tougher game, Mark Durnan gave his side the lead after sixteen minutes but the usually prolific Queen of the South couldn't find the net again until Derek Lyle scored from a corner after 3 minutes. Alan Trouten grabbed one back for visitors shortly after, but Queens never really looked like being bested.

Chris Higgins thanks the Queen's faithful for the support they have given the players:

Manager Allan Johnston now has to prepare his side for the opportunity to clinch a league and cup double when they take on Partick Thistle in the Ramsdens Cup Final in Livingstone on April 8th. He believes every player will be fighting to be fit for selection.
