The family of a man who died following an accident near Wigton yesterday have paid tribute to him.
88-year-old George Atkinson, from Thursby, died in hospital shortly after his car was in a collison with a lorry on the A596.
He had been returning home from a shopping trip to Wigton Market when the accident happened.

George had lived in Thursby for almost 20 years and had moved there from Waverton with his late wife Kathleen. He was well known locally for repairing lawnmowers and was also a keen draughts player at Thursby village Hall.
George was a father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. His daughter Shirley said that he will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his neighbours.
