Parents in the Borders are worried about safety after finding out that the parking restrictions on zig-zag lines outside some school entrances can't be enforced by law.

At the moment, drivers can park on the safety markings without being prosecuted because there are no traffic regulation orders in place.

John Lamont MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire believes parents' common sense should prevent them parking inappropriately on the zig zag lines outside schools.

The Scottish Borders Council say they are in the process of changing the rules to prevent drivers flouting the parking regulations.
