My girlfriend has just arrived out here to see the games for herself, she's in the Olympic Park as I write, managing more tourism in one morning than I have managed in one week.
As a treat, Tima took us out last night into Sochi itself for some food and to see the city properly. There was a free concert on at the Official Live Site where they were showing highlights of the action from the Games while local bands played on the stage.
It was fabulous. You may wonder, having heard some of the coverage, what Sochi is like as a place.
I have found it to be very safe, very friendly and very welcoming. I enjoyed the music and seeing the town coming to life at night. I've felt more on edge walking down Botchergate some Saturday nights. I wonder if Sochi has Black Eye Friday?
I've just arranged to meet up with David King and Stacey Kemp to explore Sochi a little more over the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to bring you a report on that excursion on Monday's Lookaround. It should be fun.
This is just a mini-blog this afternoon as I'm engrossed in the Curling and the British women have just stormed into the lead against Japan.
Enjoy the action, I know I am.
