Region recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours

The Queen has honoured people from our region in her Birthday Honours List.

They will each become either a Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) or receive a British Empire Medal (BEM).

They'll be joining famous faces being honoured including Homeland actor Damian Lewis, Angelina Jolie and Dame Maggie Smith

Cumbrian recipients:

Ms Annette Hazel Hennessy, from Appleby-in-Westmorland, Chief Executive of Merseyside Probation Trust will receive and OBE for services to Public Protection and Reducing Re-offending

Peter Richard Wavell Hensman, from Kendal, will receive and OBE for voluntary service to the Rural Economy in Cumbria

David Michael William Hodgkiss from Penrith, Chief Executive of William Hare Group will receive and OBE or services to Manufacturing andExporting

Professor Anne Strachan Garde, from Arnside, Head of Lancaster University Medical School will receive and MBE for services to Medical Education.

Catherine Elizabeth Parry, from Cockermouth, General Manager of Kirkgate Arts will receive a MBE for services to the community in Cockermouth.

Victoria Rachel Robinson, from Bowness on Windereme is a fundraiser who will receive an MBE for services to the Arts in Cumbria

Peter Barron, from Keswick, Ranger at Lake District NationalPark will receive a BEM for services to the Lake District and voluntary service to MountainRescue

Joan, Bentley, from Grange-over-Sands, will receive a BEM for services to charity and to the community in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria

John Melia McAvoy, from Maryport, Manager of Maryport and Solway Fishing Co- operative will receive a BEM for services to the Cumbrian Fishing Industry and the community in Cumbria.

Thomas William Woof, from Kirkby Stephen, Chairman of Upper EdenCommunity Plan will receive a BEM for services toCommunity Planning in Upper Eden,Cumbria.

Dumfries and Galloway recipients:

Robert Stewart Sanderson, from Sanquhar, will receive a BEM for services to music and the community in Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway

Scottish Borders recipients:

Ann Barbara Fraser, from Jedburgh, will receive a MBE for services to the Equestrian and Leisure Industry in the Scottish Borders

George James Bunyan, from Melrose, will receive a BEM for services to Sport and to the community in Melrose, Scottish Borders

Jane, Virtue, from Cockburnspath, will receive a BEM for services to the community in Cockburnspath, Scottish Borders.
