A man has pleaded guilty to the second degree murder of his Dumfries-born ex-girlfriend in California.
Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley has announced that Aubrey Dupree Wadford admitted the murder of Angela Laskey, and accepted a life sentence in prison.
Ms Laskey was found with multiple stab wounds at an apartment in Santa Barbara on 29 October 2014.
The 39-year-old was originally from Dumfries, and it's believed she moved to the United States when she was 16.
Neighbours had heard screams, and when police arrived they found her on the floor near the front door. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
After two weeks of evidence, Wadford admitted murder in the second degree, and as part of his plea, will be sentenced to between 16 years and life in prison.
The sentencing will take place on 26 May.
