WATCH: Afghan author urges people to welcome refugees

An author who fled to the UK from Afghanistan when he was just 12, has urged people in Cumbria and the south of Scotland to welcome and support other refugees.

Gulwali Passarlay, who is now 22, was visiting Carlisle Library to speak about his book The Lightless Sky.

Refugees are people like you and I.

By welcoming them we are basically doing our moral duty and it's our humane responsibility to do so, and I think we are all humans and we should support and help each other whenever we can.
