Two teenagers killed and two seriously injured after A595 crash near Bootle

Two teenagers have been killed following a crash on the A595 near Bootle.

The 18-year-old driver and the front seat passenger of a Toyota Yaris were pronounced dead at the scene at around 8pm on Friday, 14 July.

Their car was travelling from the Millom direction, when it collided with a white Ford Transit van, coming from the opposite direction.

A third 18-year-old female passenger, travelling in the back seat of the Toyota is also said to be in a critical condition, after being flown by air ambulance to Preston Royal Hospital.

The 51-year-old male driver of the Ford Transit, who is local, was flown by air ambulance to Aintree Hospital, Liverpool, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

The road was closed for six hours as a result of the collision to allow officers to examine the scene and recover the vehicles.
