Scotland is welcoming a record number of visitors from all across the world this summer.

Official figures aren't available for this summer's season, but VisitScotland say that the country's top attractions are reporting a big increase in tourists.

These include Edinburgh and Stirling Castles, National Museum of Scotland and the Scotch Whisky Experience.

Tourism experts are putting one of the reasons down to the 'Outlander effect'.

This is attracting American fans to see the landscapes featured in the US TV series, Outlander.

Some of the series was filmed at Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway:

Outlander visited Drumlanrig in 2015. I don't think word is really out there yet, but it certainly seems to be increasing interest.

We've got a visiting group of bloggers soon and we're engaging with Solway tours in a partnership for doing additional tours. I think Outlander may have had a small impact, but it actually may be still yet to come"
