Pupils from Australia have travelled to Dumfries to compete in the region's first Mini da Vinci Challenge.
Seven local teams will compete with six teams from Australia at Easterbrook Hall, Crichton Campus.
The project will see pupils go head-to-head in a range of tasks based around 10 disciplines that Leonardo da Vinci was famous for.
These include code-breaking, maths, and engineering.
The challenges encourage the use of team work, time management and creativity amongst pupils.
The da Vinci Decathlon Challenge aims to be a school, regional, national and international competition.
After today's competition, pupils from Dalbeattie High School are set for Italy to represent the UK in the international challenge.
