Several high value mountain bikes have been stolen in a spate of housebreakings in the Peebles and Innerleithen areas.

The first incident happened overnight, between Monday 2 October, and Tuesday 3 October, at an address in Bonnington Road, Peebles.

Six mountain bikes were stolen from a secure garage.

One of the has since been recovered nearby.

The second incident also happened overnight, between Wednesday 4 October, and Thursday 5 October, at an address in Rosetta Road, Peebles.

Another mountain bike was stolen from the property.

A further incident, which again happened over night at an address in Buccleuch Street, Innerleithen, involved an attempted forced entry to the property.

In this case, the housebreaking was unsuccessful.

Officers believe all three incidents may be linked:

Several high value mountain bikes have been stolen in a short space of time, and we are eager to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

I would ask those living in the Peebles and Innerleithen areas to think if they have seen any suspicious behaviour over the last week, and if they have to report it to police immediately.”
