A yellow, and in some parts amber, warning for strong winds has been issued for Cumbria and Southern Scotland from midday and into tomorrow.
Winds of between 55 and 65 mph are expected to reach much of the yellow warning area in association with ex-Ophelia.
There is potential for gusts of up to 80 mph to reach coasts in the amber warning area.
Impacts are most likely to happen in the afternoon and into this evening.
Public transport services may be affected, with delays and cancellations possible.
Power cuts may happen and there could be some damage to buildings, which could lead to injuries from flying debris.
Residents of coastal areas are advised to stay clear of sea routes and fronts as there is potential for large waves.
