Two people are in hospital with serious injuries following two separate crashes in Cumbria.
An 85-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after the car she was driving left the road and fell down an embankment on the A592 prior to Glenridding at around 4.50pm on Friday.
She was flown by Air Ambulance to Preston Royal Infirmary where police describe her condition as critical.
Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle on Swan Street in Longtown at 6.20pm on Friday. He was taken to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary and is also in a critical condition.
The driver, a 70-year-old man, is assisting police with their enquiries. Police are appealing for witnesses to both crashes.
