Sheffield Wednesday's interim manager has praised Carlisle United, after his team were held to a goalless draw at Brunton Park.

Lee Bullen said the Cumbrians "defended resolutely and made it difficult for us to break them down."

He also complimented Carlisle's on-loan goalkeeper Jack Bonham, whose instinctive save from Wednesday striker Atdhe Nuhiu denied the Championship side.

Carlisle manager Keith Curle revealed his players had stuck to his instructions.

It was a good cup tie. The quality of Sheffield Wednesday was evident and we had a game plan to allow them to have dominance of the ball.

They didn't really cause us a lot of problems and we had chances on the break including a header that was ruled out for offside.

They were the favourites, but Bonham made a Championship level save.

He's a young 'keeper developing. Everything he needed to add to his game he is at Carlisle gaining it."

The 0-0 draw means Carlisle United now face a replay, away at Sheffield Wednesday.

The draw for the FA Cup Fourth Round takes place on Monday evening.
