A campaign to raise awareness of the 'silent killer' sepsis, is being launched by the Scottish Government.

Sepsis is when a person's immune system tries to fight an infection, but ends up damaging their own organs.

It will highlight the signs and symptoms of the condition which claims a person's life every four hours.

44,000
people across the UK die from sepsis every year.

One mother from Dumfries, who almost lost her daughter to Sepsis, says the government's campaign to raise awareness of the condition is long overdue.

I think it's absolutely brilliant that Shona Robison's actually bringing it to light. It's been a long time coming. And I'm thrilled to bits that the Scottish Government's actually giving £70,000 towards it to raise awareness and recognition in Scotland."
