Visiting suspended at the Cumberland Infirmary

Visiting has been suspended at Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary because of an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug norovirus.

This was announced via the Facebook page of the North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, which is in charge of the hospital.

A spokesman for the organisation said any essential visits should be discussed with a ward directly.

No timescale has been given as to the length of the suspension and the trust has not said how many patients have been affected.
