Slow thaw as temperatures recover into the new week

SUNDAY:

Cold and cloudy for most areas with snow over hills, turning more sleety at lower levels with a slight thaw. Some brightness over Cumbria. Highs to 3°C.

OVERNIGHT:

A misty night with extensive low cloud developing and occasional rain or sleet. Some more snow for the Southern Uplands. Lows 1°C.

MONDAY:

A cloudy and misty day with a little light rain or sleet at times. A slow thaw on low ground. Becoming mainly dry through the afternoon. Highs 7°C.

OUTLOOK:

Less cold than it has been of late with showery rain or sleet at times. Any new snow will be confined to hills with a slow thaw at low levels.
