Former Carlisle United midfielder Paul Murray has returned to the club as first team coach.

Murray, who grew up in Penrith, started his career at Carlisle United in the mid-1990s before joining Queens Park Rangers.

He went on to represent the England Under 21s. He had a second spell as a player at Brunton Park in the 2006/7 season.

He takes up his new role with the Blues after coaching at Fleetwood Town.

It does feel a bit strange coming back here as a coach, but I’ve been here as a player so I know what the fans and city are like.

I want to give them something to shout about and so do the rest of the staff, so it’ll be interesting. We’re looking for success."
