Police appeal after Wigton sheep theft

16 Texel sheep have been stolen from the Glasson Village area of Wigton. The incident happened between 3pm on Sunday 24 September and 4pm on Monday 25 September.

Anyone with information should email 101@cumbria.police.uk or call 101 quoting incident number 169 of 26 September. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

A south of Scotland zoo that's home to nearly 100 animals from all over the world is closing.

The Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park near Kirkcudbright will shut on Sunday 10 September after more than 15 years. The owners said it was closing for personal reasons. Some of the animals are being re-homed and others will remain on the park site.

24 lambs have been stolen from a field in the Firbank area of Sedbergh. The lambs are Texel Mule cross and have ear tag numbers UK111871.

The lambs were taken between 11am on 16 August and 10am on 17 August 2017. Police investigation and ask anyone with information to call 101 or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 referencing incident 66 of 17 August 2017.

RSPCA search for owners of starving dog found in Penrith

RSPCA officers are trying to trace the owner of a dog that was near to death when she was found on a road in Penrith by a member of the public. One officer describes the five-year-old Staffordshire Boxer cross as one of the most shocking cases he's ever seen.

Ruby, as she's being called, is being nursed back to health but was just a week from death. The RSPCA say they are willing to prosecute the person responsible for neglecting her.
