Hundreds expected in lakes
Hundreds of people are expected to take part in three mass participation walks in the Lake District in September. The Jane Tomlinson Walk For All is said to be the biggest charity event of its kind to come to the area. Walkers can choose distances of 18, 13 or 4.5 miles near Windermere.
Each have different starts but all end at the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre at Brockhole. The event is named after Jane Tomlinson who carried out several endurance challenges while suffering from incurable cancer.
She raised £1.85 million before dying in 2007. Since then walks, runs and swims have been set up as part of her legacy. The event will be held on Sunday 9th September, with a limit of 1600 participants. Jane's husband Mike says,
– Mike TomlinsonI'm so excited to launch the event in one of the most spectacularly beautiful areas of Europe.
