Military chiefs have met with Cumbrian health and council services to find better ways of helping forces veterans and their families.
There are more than 43,000 veterans in the county and number will grow following the announcement of cuts to the armed forces.
A meeting has been taking place at Carlisle Castle today to discuss how that transition can be made easier. Samantha Parker reports.
