Selkirk river body: Man identified

Lothian and Borders Police have confirmed the identity of a man whose body was found in the River Etterick in the Scottish Borders.

He was 68 year old Jim Corrigan from Falkland in Fife.

Mr Corrigan had been fishing at The Cauld near Ettrickhaugh Road when he passed away.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Lothian and Borders Police have pulled the body of a man from the river near Ettrickhaugh Road in Selkirk.

The grim discovery was made at around 11.40am on Tuesday 2nd October. Efforts are underway to try and identify him.

Body of a man found in Selkirk

Lothian and Borders police are appealing for witnesses after a man's body was found in water near to the Scottish Borders town of Selkirk. He has not yet been identified.

In a statement a police spokesperson said:

"Lothian and Borders Police responded to The Cauld, near Ettrickhaugh Road in Selkirk at around 11.40am on Tuesday 2nd October after a body was found within the water.

"Efforts are now underway to recover the body and determine the circumstances surrounding this death."
