A man in his 60s has died in a house fire in Penrith, Cumbria

Fire death man named

A man who died following a house fire in Penrith has been named.

Mr John Howard Bell, who was 66, died after a fire in his home on Tyne Close in Penrith. Mr Bell, who was commonly known as Howard, was rescued from the blaze but died at the scene.

There are no suspicious circumstances and the case has been passed to the coroner.

A man, believed to be in his 60s. was found in the house and treated for his injuries but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and are working to inform the next of kin.
