Funeral for Queens legend

The funeral is taking place today in Dumfries for all-time top goalscorer at Queen of the South, Jim Patterson. He died last week aged 84. Jim Patterson joined Queens in 1949 and scored 251 goals in 14 seasons at Palmerston Park.

Minute's silence for Queen's legend

A minute's silence will be held at Palmerston Park today to honour the memory of legendary goal-scorer Jim Patterson.

Players and supporters will hold the silence at 3pm before the derby game between Queen of the South and Stranraer.

Jim Patterson scored 251 goals in 14 seasons at Palmerston Park, including six goals in one game against Cowdenbeath making him the club's leading scorer.

His funeral was held in Dumfries on Christmas Eve.

The funeral of goal-scoring legend Jim Patterson takes place in Dumfries today.

The former player for Queen of The South joined the Dumfries side in 1949 and scored 251 goals in 14 seasons at Palmerston Park, including six goals in one game against Cowdenbeath.

He was one of the first players to be inducted into the Doonhamers' Hall of Fame.

His final appearance for the club was in 1963.

His funeral service will take place at 12pm at Jardine`s Chapel of Rest and then at the High Cemetery in Dumfries.
