Tributes have been paid to 15 year-old Helena Farrell who was found dead on Friday night in a Kendal woodland.

The headteacher of Helena Farrell's school has paid tribute to a 'remarkable young lady'.

The 15-year-old was found dead in woodland in Kendal on Friday night (4th January).

“The entire school is in a state of shock following the sudden and tragic death of Helena Farrell who was in year 11. Helena was a remarkable young lady.

"As well as being a talented singer who sang with the Amabile Choir shehad achieved Grade 7 Cello and played in the Westmorland Youth Orchestra.

"She was on track to achieve A*s and A’s in her GCSEs. Helena was a much loved member of the School and this tragedy will leave a tremendous hole in our community. Ourthoughts are with the family and friends at this sad time.”

Family tribute to Helena Farrell

The family of a 15 year-old girl found dead in woodland in Kendal have described her as 'beautiful, loved and cherished'.

Helena Farrell was found in the woodland close to the Castle Green hotel in the town on Friday night.

'Helena Farrell, 15, the beautiful, loved and cherished daughter of Enda and Maria Farrell and sister of Declan Farrell died tragically on Friday night.

'The family have requested privacy at this time.'

Cumbria police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death but are not treating it as suspicious.
