'UK will benefit from Scotland staying in union' says former Chancellor
The former chancellor, Alistair Darling, believes that during these economically 'turbulent times' that the 'crucial argument' surrounding independence is that the UK as a whole will operate better in terms of the economy and jobs, compared to if Scotland left the union.
Former Chancellor meets Dumfries businesses
The leader of the UK 'Better Together' campaign and former Chancellor, Alistair Darling, is meeting with small businesses in Dumfries.
The visit is part of his tour of Scotland where he is hearing the views of business people on independence.
Mr Darling is due to speak with local businesses at a meeting organised by the Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce, before visiting the manufacturing site of Dupont Teijin Films.
