A mini-bus carrying seven children has crashed near Carlisle in Cumbria.

Road re-opened after mini-bus crash

The A689 at Wallfoot near Carlisle has re-opened following a crash involving three vehicles, including a mini-bus carrying seven children.

The children aged between 13 and 14, and two adults were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary as a precaution.

The driver of the mini-bus, aged 38 and from Northumberland, was airlifted to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be serious.

A 51-year-old HGV driver from Essex and a local motorist escaped injury.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which closed the Carlisle to Brampton road for several hours.
