Calls are being made for one of the main roads in the Borders to be upgraded.
Calls are being made for upgrades to be carried out on a major trunk road in the Scottish Borders.
Figures have been released showing there have been nearly 500 accidents between Edinburgh and the Borders in the last decade.
Now a local politician is asking the Scottish Government to consider making the A68 dual carriageway.

John Lamont, MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire wants to see more investment on the A68 to make it safer, by introducing more crawler lanes, and by duelling sections.
– John Lamont MSP, Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire"What these figures are showing is that there is a higher accident rate on those parts of the road that are not duelled or those parts that do not have a crawler lane.
"I think it is very important that the government does all it can to try and invest in the road so it is made as safe as possible to ensure these accident figures are reduced for future years."

Statistics revealed there have been nearly 500 accidents on the road in the past 10 years between the Scottish border and Edinburgh.
Mr Lamont is now calling on the Scottish Government to make the road safer after 15 people died on the stretch.
– John Lamont, MSP"The A68 is used by Borders residents thousands of times a year, as it is one of the key routes for getting between the Borders and Edinburgh to the north and Newcastle to the south.
"It is therefore important that it is made as safe as possible for motorists to use, but these statistics show that there are too many accidents happening on it.
"Many people will be shocked that nearly 500 accidents have occurred on it in the last ten years, with 100 of them being serious and 15 fatal."
He added:
– John Lamont, MSP"It is a clear indication that more needs to be done to improve safety on the road, and the onus is on the Scottish Government to take action to cut down the number of collisions."
