Police say the Northbound carriageway of the A74(M) is expected to remain closed for most of the day after a man died in a four-vehicle crash in the early hours of this morning.

Officers added that the Southbound carriageway, which is also closed, could open at around Midday.

A man has died after being involved in a four-vehicle crash on the A74(M) near Gretna.

Three HGV's and a car pulling a caravan collided on the Northbound carriageway between junction 19 and 20 at just after Midnight. The road has been closed since the incident.

Man killed in four-vehicle crash near Gretna

An investigation is underway after a man died in a crash involving three lorries and a car pulling a caravan in Dumfries and Galloway.

It happened on the Northbound carriagway of the A74(M) Glasgow to Carlisle Road between junction 19 and 20 near Gretna, at just after Midnight. The driver of the car was killed in the collision.

Police say the road has been closed since the early hours of this morning and diversions are in place.
