The oldest coast to coast passenger route in the UK is celebrating its 175th anniversary. The route linking the cities of Newcastle and Carlisle opened in the 1838. Events have been taking place along the line.
Volunteers from Beamish Museum dressed in Victorian costume and a brass band from Hexham played at Carlisle and Newcastle stations. The event was organised by the Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership. You can watch Hannah McNulty's report below.
Celebrations are being held for the 175th anniversary of the Newcastle to Carlisle railway line.
A special historical service will leave for Carlisle at 11.22am.
