Scottish Water: "Local businesses can trade as normal"

"This work has been carefully planned so local businesses can continue to trade as normal.

"The project has been split into small sections to make sure we affect as few traders as possible at each stage. There will be ample notice of any interruptions to the water supply and our contractors will work hard to ensure these disruptions are as short as possible and timed conveniently.

"Our Whitesands project team have been in the area recently briefing business owners face to face and addressing any concerns they may have.

"We liaised closely with the roads department in the planning of the work and made sure we avoided working when local events are taking place.

"There is flood alleviation work planned by the council and we need to do our upgrade work now so the area is ready for that work to commence. It is not possible to have the two projects underway simultaneously.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause to local traders."
