Olympic bronze medalist and gymnast Beth Tweddle has been in Kendal to help launch a programme aimed at boosting sports participation in the county.
As well as talking to school children about the benefits of exercise, the 26-year-old also took time out to reflect on her Olympic and "Dancing on Ice" achievements:
The most successful British female gymnast is visiting Kendal to launch a new sports participation plan.
Beth Tweddle is taking part in the launch of Lakes Leisure's five-year programme, aimed at boosting sports participation in South Lakeland.
The 26-year-old will talk about her own achievements, including being crowned a triple World champion, a six-time European champion and winning an Olympic bronze medal, in the hope of inspiring others.
Lakes Leisure Head of Operations Derek Jones said:
“One of the cornerstones of the London 2012 Olympic legacy was to encourage more people to get involved in sport so we are delighted to welcome a genuine sporting star like Beth to Kendal to help inspire our own young people.
“It also highlights the importance of the launch our new strategic plan which is designed to get more people involved with sports and cultural activities.
"Beth’s impressive achievements include being an Olympic Bronze Medalist, a triple World Champion, a six-time European Champion, a Commonwealth Champion and seven-times consecutive National Champion."
