Man released without charge following Morton incident

A 29-year-old man has been released without charge following an incident in the south Morton area of Carlisle.

Armed police were called to Ashness Drive at 2.20pm yesterday (10th July), where a man was believed to have threatened someone known to him with a weapon.

The man, who was arrested on suspicion of assault, was questioned by police but released without charge.

Enquiries into alleged firearms offences are also being investigated but no firearm has been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to Carlisle Police Station.

Police are currently dealing with an incident at Etterby Lea Road, Carlisle, and are asking people to avoid the area.

It is not believed that this is linked with the earlier incident in the day.

Armed officers have been deployed at the scene as a precaution, and the scene has been cordoned off.

Police are conducting enquires and do not believe there is any danger to members of the public.
