This year's Wickerman Festival is the 'most successful yet'

Organisers of the Wickerman Festival say this year's event has been their most successful yet.

The two-day festival in Dumfries and Galloway sold out for the first time.

Scottish singer-songwriters Amy McDonald and KT Tunstall were among the top international acts playing alongside local bands.

The music event near Kirkcudbright is now in its 12th year.

12th Wickerman Festival closes in spectacular style

The Wickerman Festival in Dundrennan, Dumfries and Galloway drew to a close last night with the midnight burning of a giant Minotaur Wickerman statue. The sell out crowd of 12,000 enjoyed two days of performances from acts including Amy MacDonald.

Police: 'Overall a good natured crowd who are enjoying festivities'

Overall we have a very good natured crowd on site who are enjoying the festivities. There have been a few arrests for minor offences however no serious incidents to date. All agencies are working closely together to ensure that everyone continues to enjoy themselves safely for the remainder of the festival.
