Carlisle in the running for share of £1 million

Carlisle is in the running to become one of six cities that will receive a share of one million pounds with Sustainable Food City status.

The ‘Sustainable Food Cities’ programme will use healthy and sustainable food to address pressing social, economic and environmental problems - including obesity, food poverty and climate change.

Carlisle has been chosen as a founding member of the Sustainable Food Cities Network which has been launched today.

The network is hoping that cities will learn from each other and work together to promote the ideas of sustainable food.
