North Cumbria's NHS Trust says it is looking to appoint more consultants and nurses following the publication of the Keogh report into hospital death rates last month.
The report raised concerns over medical cover and an over-reliance on locums. The trust, which runs hospitals in Carlisle and Whitehaven has appointed 20 consultants and more than 100 nurses since last September.
It says it is continuing to actively search for extra staff.
