Two lanes of the M6 Motorway were closed for more than twelve hours today, causing long tailbacks and delays for thousands of drivers.
It happened after a lorry overturned in the early hours of the morning.
The 74-year-old driver of the vehicle is being treated in hospital following the accident.
Emergency services have spent the day clearing up.

A lorry driver is being treated in hospital after his HGV overturned on the M6 early this morning.
The accident closed two lanes of the southbound motorway and there are still long delays.

An overturned lorry at junction 38 (Tebay), on the M6 in Cumbria, is causing severe delays.
The lorry, which was carrying a load of refrigerated goods, overturned at 2am.
Two lanes have been closed between junctions 38 and 39, but lane three is now open.
Drivers can expect long delays as traffic is just beginning to filter through.
Police have advised that any abnormal loads will have to be held at the service area.
