Police appeal for information after woman disappears

Police in Galloway have made an appeal for anyone with information surrounding the disappearance of 70-year-old Elizabeth Watson to get in contact with them.

"She was last seen at half past five in the town centre at Dashwood Square, so anything beyond that is what we need ... this is an active woman, she may have wandered further than the town itself, and anyone who has seen Mrs Watson, after half past five last night, if you would like to contact Police Scotland on 101."

Bad weather puts missing 'Betty' at high risk

Police searching for a woman who has gone missing from Newton Stewart are treating her disappearance as high risk.

The search for missing 70-year-old Elizabeth 'Betty' Watson has been taking place since yesterday evening.

Officers believe that because of the recent bad weather and heavy rainfall, combined with Betty's age, she is at high risk.

Anyone who has any information about Betty's whereabouts, or who thinks that they may have seen her since 5pm yesterday, is being encouraged to get in contact with police on the 101 non-emergency number.
